Diego Schissi won Yarlung the label’s Second GRAMMY® Award nomination for Nene, which he wrote for Sibelius Piano Trio as a commission from Yarlung Artists Coretet.
We met Diego Schissi when Yarlung was invited by the Argentine Ministry of Culture to the first MICA conference in Buenos Aires. Our friend (the bass player Pablo Motta on Antonio Lysy at The Broad: Music from Argentina) told us we had to hear this brilliant composer and performer who had taken the mantle from Piazzolla and further extended the Tango into the realm of high contemporary art. Carlos and Haydee Mollura underwrote Yarlung’s first commission from Diego, the now classic audiophile track Juego de Relojes (Game of Clocks, in English) on Smoke & Mirrors: Vanish.
Yarlung Artists Coretet commissioned a new four movement work, Nene, from Diego for The Sibelius Piano Trio, with whom we created their debut album in 2016.
